Coleford Area Walking Festival

14th May 2018 - 20th May 2018

Description

Bookings are now being taken for this years’ Coleford Area Walking Festival that is set to take place next month.  The event which runs from Monday 14th to Sunday 20th of May is a jointly funded initiative between Coleford Town Council and the Coleford Area Partnership and features 25 walks covering a variety of themes and offering something for people of all abilities.

A spokesman for the Walking Festival told us “we are really grateful to the many organisations that have come on board to work with us in building on last years’ successful launch.  These organisation include both of the main funders, the Forest Holidays Forest of Dean Rangers, the RSPB, Barnwood Trust, the Dean Forest Tour Guides, Foresters’ Forest HLF Project, the Forestry Commission, Mid-Wyedean Churches, the Sculpture Trust, Lemon Photographic Coleford Twinning Association, and many individuals who have kindly agreed to lead walks for us.  It is hoped that if this second event is a success to make this an annual addition to Coleford’s ever growing events calendar.”

Walks range in length and difficulty from a fully accessible 1 mile walk around Mallards Pike to more strenuous walks of 8-11 miles.  Included within the programme is a ‘Night Wildlife Walk’ with a Forest of Dean Ranger, a ‘walk and talk French’ hosted by the Twinning Association, an urban photography walk, a series of village walks to get to know your local area and a Geocaching event organised by popular local post lady Janice Lightly.

Full details of the walks and how to book are available online at www.colefordareawalkingfestival.co.uk or by visiting the Tourist Information Centre at 4 Lords Hill, Coleford.
