Hands on with History at Goodrich Castle

Get set for a truly historic summer and discover what it was like to live, work and fight in a real-life castle. Whether it’s learning to sword fight, taking part in pike drills, or transforming into a roundhead or cavalier, there's plenty of hands-on fun to keep the kids entertained. And once the little adventurers have put their skills to the test, let imaginations run wild as you explore Goodrich’s mighty castle walls and spooky dungeon!

Leave the A40 midway between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, follow signs to Goodrich/Goodrich Castle. From village, follow lane signed hostel 1 1/2 miles.

Goodrich Castle

Explore the 12th century keep, chapel and maze of small rooms. Climb to the battlements and take in the amazing views of the Wye Valley. See 'Roaring Meg', the only surviving Civil War mortar.
