Owain Glyndŵr, the legendary rebel Prince of Wales, has disappeared without a trace. Discover his destiny on the dancefloor. Dance the rebellion to a DJ mixing club classics and original tunes, inside his rivals’ castle at Abergavenny.
During the event, a soundtrack over wireless headphones will lead you through the legend of Owain Glyndŵr and his Welsh revolt, from 1399 to 1415. The story is set to a DJ mixing club and punk classics with current Welsh musicians and bands. The invitation is to immerse yourself in Welsh history but with a twist, experiencing the high and lows of the uprising, with fierce dance-offs, twmpath, sieges, betrayals, and defections.
This energetic and entertaining night out for families, young people and rebels of all ages has been created to inspire and inform by Light Ladd & Emberton, a collective of four of Wales’ leading creatives - Deborah Light, Eddie Ladd and Gwyn Emberton and Laura Drane.
Laura Drane, Producer at Light Ladd & Emberton says:
“The show is played out using professional performers alongside our ticket buying disco-ers, in a series of scenes, actions, and tasks. The soundtrack and the narration, through the wireless headphones, will provide the tunes and direct the action, in Welsh and English. Come and discover Glyndwr's story.”
It was 1404 when Owain Glyndŵr laid siege to Abergavenny Castle. Over six hundred years later you can find out about him in an exciting new way and have fun dancing in this brilliant silent disco inside the castle he tried to win!
Suitable for all age and tickets are just £5 available now from Abergavenny Museum tel 01873 854282. There are two 45 minute shows on August 1. This is the only castle in South Wales where you can experience this event this summer. Come and immerse yourself in Welsh history with a twist.
