Making an Exhibition of Myself

12th May 2018 - 17th June 2018

Description

"Welcome to my first solo art exhibition inspired by many people and many things…

My interest in art and wildlife began from a young age through my draughtsman father and art teachers at school.  Rural studies and art lessons were my favourite subjects (I was pretty useless at most other things to be honest).  I was known for my surreal, abstract art and wacky sense of humour from a young age and these elements still influence me now. For many years I lost my passion for art, focusing instead on playing guitar, singing in bands and working as a graphic artist but now, thankfully have been inspired by attending a local art group and being energised by the organiser (local artist Jackie Cox) and fellow art lovers! I also recently won Best Other Subject for my picture ‘Nest of Tables’ at the UK Coloured Pencil Society exhibition. The inspiration for this piece of artwork came from a ‘once in a lifetime’ trip to The Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctica.

The majority of my artwork is done with coloured pencils, pen & ink and pastels but I hope to experiment further with oils, acrylics and other mediums.

I would like to thank my supportive wife, Alison for putting up with my moods and tantrums leading up this exhibition.  It was she who prompted me to ‘Make an Exhibition of Myself’…."
