Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers Romeo & Juliet have been translated into ballet many times, but on Sunday January 21st the Bolshoi Ballet’s brilliant new production will be broadcast across the world and there is the chance to see it on the big screen at Chepstow’s Drill Hall.

In Verona, Romeo and Juliet fall madly in love while their respective families, the Montagues and the Capulets, are caught in a bitter rivalry ending in heart-wrenching tragedy…

Alexei Ratmansky, former artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, stages the company’s premiere of his production with dramatic urgency and a fresh re-telling of Shakespeare’s beloved classic. His brilliant and detailed adaptation set to Prokofiev’s powerful and moving music, reignites the story of literature’s most celebrated young lovers like no other classical ballet choreographer today. 

Screening at at a great time for ballet lovers of all ages 3pm this Sunday afternoon, this is a brilliant opportunity to introduce young people to the enchantment of the ballet from one of the best companies in the world..
