Abergavenny (Y Fenni in Welsh), a vibrant and unspoilt market town in Monmouthshire is the Gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Almost completely surrounded by hills, and close to the Sugarloaf and Black Mountains, the town is a great base for exploring the outdoors and historic sites of South East Wales.
The town has a good mix of local shops and high street brands and excellent markets. Livestock markets are held on Tuesdays and a variety of different events take place in the newly restored Victorian Market Hall including farmers, flea, collectors, craft and the original produce market.
Abergavenny was originally a walled town and the remain of its medieval stone castle, close to the town centre, houses the town’s museum.
In September the town hosts the famous Abergavenny Food Festival when virtually the whole town plays host to some of the brightest lights of the food world and features the best producers from Wales, the Marches, and further afield.
The town offers a diverse range of excellent accommodation, a feast of eating experiences, exciting places to visit, and activities to suit all ages in a beautiful and idyllic location.
