Littledean Jail
Attraction in or near Cinderford

This former house of correction, police station and courthouse is the county’s most talked about, most unorthodox, not to be missed historical visitor attraction set in the Royal Forest of Dean.

The 'Alacatraz of the Forest', Littledean Jail is not only home of the infamous 'CRIME THROUGH TIME MUSEUM' - the only museum of it's kind in the World open to the public, but it also houses the largest collection of 'QUADROPHENIA' memorabilia.

On top of these two fabiulous collections, Littledean Jail also contains a unique, thought provoking and unrivalled private collection of worldwide interest.

Warning: This attraction has displays and material that might not be suitable for those easily offended or of a sensitive nature.

So glad we came across this attraction during our stay in the Forest of Dean.A most bizzare, fascinating and politically incorrect place to visit that is well worth a trip to see.

Fantastic collection! Me and my wife spent a good few hours looking around and it still was not enough time to see everything that was there. We shall definately be re-visting soon to have another look.A must see if you are visting the forest area.

Stayed at Bracelands touring park over lthe last week which was great.Visited Littledean Jail yesterday and spent most of the day there.Brilliant place to visit with masses to see.So pleased we were recommended this place and our teenagers were greatly impressed with what they saw.
Be warned, very controversial and taboo content so if of a sensitive nature, easily offended or have young children, then probably best to not go there.Older kids will like it..lots of controversial and weird stuff there.

I do not think that this attraction is for children of any age, or for students of criminality.
Perhaps ok for sensationalists or people impressed by celebrity.
Other than crime, there is no real theme to the exhibition, and exhibits do not appear to be in logical collections or sequence.
It is different, but I would not be inclined to re-visit or recomend to anyone.

As is made clear in all our leaflets and by the extensive array of signs in advance of your entry to the jail, and indeed, throughout the building, we take great care to warn all customers, particularly parents and guardians of the nature of the collection. Customers are verbally told that if easily offended, disturbed, or of a sensitive nature they should avoid entry to the jail.

We do not in shape or form encourage small children to see the collection. All parents and guardians must be responsible for reading the warnings before entry.

Crime, sleaze and scandal are not pleasant subjects to cover or display and as such are not presented in a pleasant way either.

We have visited various themed jails around the country and whilst we were made aware of the contents being of a mild sexual nature and not for sensitive people, we found this completely inappropriate for children of any age. Whilst it may be a private collection the views and opinions of the individual in some cases are offensive and alot fo the contents have very little to do with crime through the ages. We were shocked that a listed "attraction" was of such a low standard and was explicit not so much sexually but the photos displayed portrayed horrific suffering of individuals as a result of war or crime. We feel it was mis sold in the attractions listing.
