Puzzlewood
Attraction in or near Coleford

What is the magic of Puzzlewood? Could it be the maze of pathways winding through the gulley’s of moss covered rocks, the twisted roots of the Yew trees or the bridges and lookouts you can find on your way round?

Puzzlewood is an enchanting place. It has an atmosphere quite unlike any other wood you have visited. JRR Tolkien is reputed to have taken his inspiration for the fabled forests of Middle Earth from Puzzlewood, and it is easy to see why.

Puzzlewood has been used by the BBC for both Dr Who and Merlin. BBC Historic Days Out voted Puzzlewood number 7 in its Top Ten Days Out for Kids.

I took the grandchildren to Puzzlewod yesterday. They loved it - particularly the association with Dr Who. They also loved the playground, the animals and the indor maze. With so much going on it is easy to overlook the wood itself, but of course it is just great.

However, Puzlewood is not just for the kids. Granny loved it too and we will be going back again on our own!
