Walking for Wellbeing
Getting outside and being surrounded by nature is good for the heart and soul. It’s been proven that spending time in nature can lower blood pressure, improve mental health and help us all to de-stress. There’s also that all important Vitamin D boost which we all need a bit of after the long dark winter. Explore our many walking routes, be inspired by our sculpture trail, take in a breathtaking view or explore a magical woodland. If you’re looking for a bit of ‘you’ time, to switch off and reconnect with nature this is the right place to do it. Let Mother Nature treat you to a show of beauty and colour this spring with a carpet of scented bluebells in the woods and daffodil displays which inspired Wordsworth.

Wellbeing Retreat
Why not join a Healing and Wellness Weekend Retreat at Hidden Valley Yurts in the Wye Valley this May. Explore different styles of yoga taught by experienced teachers, meditation workshops, gong baths, shamanic journeys, drumming and much more. Stay on site in one of the authentic Mongolian yurts located in a meadow alongside a stream in a hidden valley with 80 acres of land to explore. The perfect place to retreat to for peace and tranquillity. From 15th - 18th May 2020.

We all know that walking in nature is good for you in many ways, but did you know that it can help to focus your thoughts and increase your creativity? Photowalking is a new trend to combine the activities of walking in nature and photography and is now available from The Forest of Dean School of Photography. Bespoke walks are tailored to each individual or group depending on their pace and photography goals. This new experience is an antidote to instant bucket-list photo sharing and places emphasis on reconnecting with nature, living in the moment and really taking notice of the details around you. Each walk is different and inspiring, and most importantly, restorative. Sessions are suitable for all and are also available at unique locations such as Puzzlewood. Regular photography lessons are also available, in groups or one-to-one.

Yoga Retreat
Immerse yourself in a wellness retreat with Forest Retreats this spring and enjoy expert yoga tuition in a relaxed and peaceful environment. Located on a 15-acre smallholding overlooking Tintern and The Wye Valley, comprising woodlands, paddocks and streams, it’s the perfect location to get away from the stresses of daily life and take time out for yourself to rejuvenate the body and soul. Their spring day retreat is on Saturday 30th May featuring yoga classes, forest bathing and an eco-spa and is perfect for beginners and intermediates.

Forest Bathing
Live well with trees and discover shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) this spring. Shinrin-yoku is the practice of bathing all the senses whilst taking in the forest atmosphere. It's a slow practice, involving walking no more than 2km. Shinrin-yoku is restorative, both mentally and physically, like a bath, and increases your health and wellbeing. Available Tuesday 14th April 2020 or by private booking. Combine with a soul soother break at Tudor Farmhouse Hotel for a truly relaxing rural getaway this spring.
