On various dates throughout the spring months, naturalist Ed Drewitt will take groups out on a two hour wildlife safari through the Forest of Dean. Feel the thrill of holding a bird of prey on your arm with Forest Barn Falconry’s experience days. There is a beginner’s introduction to Falconry allowing you to get up close and personal with the birds of prey on your fist and half-day experiences which allows you to handle and fly the birds – all whilst learning more about each of the individual birds. On site accommodation in the 5* holiday cottages can also be included for a thrilling holiday to remember! Falconry days are also available which you can book onto, on 14th March, 4th and 29th April, and 8th May 2020. See them all here.
Watch a Huge Tidal Wave
You might not want to take part but just watching the incredible spectacle that is the Severn Bore is an experience in itself! One of Britain's few natural phenomena, the Severn Bore is a large surge wave that can be seen in the estuary of the River Severn, where the tidal range is the 2nd highest in the world. The wave can be surfed or kayaked or watched safely from the shore at many locations. With the new season also come the spring tides and the first big bores of 2020 take place in March and coincide monthly with the full moon. It’s an exciting and unusual sight to behold! Spring dates this year for the biggest bores are 10th-13th March, 8th-11th April and 7th-9th May 2020.
