Hunters Lodge Retreat
Self Catering in or near St Briavels

As you approach the house the majestic scotch pines guide you to Hunters Lodge.  From the top floor of the annexe you wonder if you could be in Tuscany.  Hunters Lodge is situated on a small private roadway and the entrance to the annexe is separate from the main house.  Rooms are spacious with wooden floors and high ceilings.  It is a wonderful base for walking and discovering wildlife in a peaceful setting.  Then with a short walk to the village shop and cafe, you find yourself in a lively centre of activity for the local comunity.  The owners, George and Rebecca are both painters and are inspired by the local landscape.

We recently visited Hunters Lodge Retreat and enjoyed a wonderful week relaxing in the beautiful accommodation and exploring the area. Hunters Lodge has, without doubt, the most stunning views over the surrounding countryside, not only from the raised patio, but also from inside the house itself, which has a number of large windows that look out across the valley or, to the side, towards woodland and pasture . It was a wonderful experience to sleep with the curtains open and wake with the sun rising over the trees and to see the mist in the valley evaporate in the early hours - plenty of stars to see at night too, as well as birds to watch in the day time. The accommodation itself was exceptionally comfortable and we certainly had everything we needed. On top of all this, our hosts, Rebecca and George, were beguiling and made our stay a truly memorable experience. Many, many thanks – we look forward to visiting again.
