Have you been here recently? Add your review - click here!My husband and I spent our first two nights of married life at Wharton Lodge. We were welcomed into a very high standard of accommodation by George & Nicky with a bottle of champers to celebrate our marriage. We stayed in Elgar cottage which was superb, we were able to use the beautiful and picturesque grounds for our photos. It would be very very difficult to better the hospitality and surroundings than Wharton Lodge. Nov 24th 2011 by M L H in Herefordshire We have recently stayed at Wharton Lodge cottages and thought it was great. There was lots of attention to detail in the cottage and lovely little homely touches. Our dog had a lovely time and it was so good to go somewhere so welcoming of dogs. Gearoge and Nicky were very helpful and friendly and the grounds were suberb. Thank you! We will go back for sure. Aug 30th 2011 by D E in Harewood - Stayed for 6 nights at Wharton Lodge and experienced a pleasant stay. Our hosts were very amicable and generous, providing suggestions and help to give the best experience when visiting the local area. Their local knowledge is invaluable. The accomodation and facilities are what should be expected of a high class service and facilities. The accomodation was very comfortable and with all the trimmings you would expect of even your own home. The grounds extend a lovely relaxing evironment so if you want some quiet time to relax in the garden or the glass house you are able to get away from it all with no noisey interruptions. Most importantly, given the chance, I would return happily for another holiday. Aug 12th 2011 by C in Goole We have just returned from a very relaxing break staying in Elgar Cottage which we consider to be the best of any self catering facilites we have so far experienced. The cottage is the perfect place in which to 'get away from it all' - 5 star plus. Beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean (courtesy of Joyce and Pat). Also the welcome grocery pack got us off to a good start. Walks from the door, and proximity to the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean meant that other wonderful hikes were within 30mins drive. The view from Yat Rock must be in the UK top ten, worth every demanding step of the climb from Symonds Yat. Finally, Nicky's 'make yourself at home' welcome and that of her three loveable dogs were the perfect complement to a thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable stay. If this part of the UK is an area you intend to visit look no further than Wharton Lodge Cottages for self catering accommodation. We will certainly be returning as soon as we can. Jul 13th 2010 by T & P M in Kent We would like to say thank you very much for all your help and ensuring we had a lovely time at Wharton Lodge Cottages. Elgar cottage is very beautiful and well equipped, tastefully decorated and in a perfect setting. We have had a lovely relaxing time and your advice on where to visit was really helpful. We have had the most enjoyable time, thank you! Jun 16th 2010 by C M in Merseyside This is a return visit to fabulous Wharton Lodge set in an idyllic location. Excellent cottage, a big friendly welcome when you arrive and the food hamper is much appreciated especially after a long journey. The gardens are stunning and perfect to laze in on a sunny day. A bonus that Wharton Lodge is very dog-friendly. Great to be in an area with pubs that cook home-made meals as recommended by Nicky. One of the best cottages in Premier Cottages brochure. Will be returning again. The "Ts" in Lancashire Jun 09th 2010 by E T in Lancashire We have just returned from a very pleasant five night break in Grosvenor with our 10 month old Labrador, Jack. We were very impressed with Wharton Lodge and its beautiful gardens and surroundings. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well equipped. The bed was large and VERY comfy. Nicky, George and the three dogs gave us a great welcome. This was our first experience of a self-catering holiday and for many years our first in the UK but it certainly was a great example of both! Who needs Airline strikes and "ash clouds" when such a wonderful time can be had closer to home. We hope to return very soon. May 23rd 2010 by R A J L in Gloucestershire We have lost count of the number of times we have stayed in Grosvenor cottage at Wharton Lodge. It is much more than just a base for visiting the many attractions in the area: with the attractive, comfortable cottages and lovely gardens, we like just being there. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, including the dogs, which makes the time spent there really relaxing and enjoyable. May 17th 2010 by I W in Leicestershire We have stayed in Elgar cottage at Wharton Lodge on a number of ocassions and it is like a second home to us. The cottages are superb and well equipped as you would expect for five star accommodation. However, it is the warmth and friendliness of the owners Nicky and George and their attention to detail that makes Wharton Lodge a very special place to visit. The cottages are located in beautiful countryside with wonderful walks at your door step. May 16th 2010 by M D in Surrey Imagine a luxurious home from home where you can relax and enjoy beautiful traditional accommodation in fabulous surroundings whilst also having every modern convenience you could wish for. This is what welcomes you the minute you enter the gates of Wharton Lodge Holiday Cottages. Set amongst glorious gardens with views across the countryside these luxurious cottages are a perfect retreat. The location is second to none, with easy access to many country walks and local attractions. In addition, you could not wish for nicer, more obliging hosts - Nicky and George and their team go out of their way to ensure that every aspect of your stay is tailored to your needs. We have been visiting Wharton Lodge regularly over the past 7 years and are always eager to return, whatever the season. Apr 14th 2010 by J A in Buckinghamshire
