Have you been here recently? Add your review - click here!My husband and I booked in for the christmas special afternoon tea on the way home from a weekend visiting symonds yat.We were greeted by Aunt Martha in her victorian costume and shown in to the tea room. The room was decorated for christmas in a very tastefull fashion, carols playing softly in the background and subdued lighting from the oil lamps, the smell making you lamost believe you had actually gone back in time.We immediately relaxed and was put at ease by the friendly and immediately likeable aunt martha. When our chocoholic spread arrived we were amazed at the presentation and quality proving that tea and cakes definately taste better with sugar cubes, soft white linen, teapots, china and tea strainers, the prince albert tea we had tasted of christmas! we could have stayed all afternoon chatting to aunt martha and continuing to soak up the atmosphere, what a brilliant place that has been developed due to the passion and commitment to quality of the owners, a true jewel in the crown. we will visit the tearooms at the next time we visit the area and I am sure many times folowing this and look forward to sharing the experience with our family and friends Nov 28th 2011 by Z L R in Leicestershire What a lovely place to visit. Cream tea delicious, Service excellent very friendly too. Loved the experience and will go back again next time we are in the area Aug 13th 2011 by E in Lincolnshire What a delight, we stumbled here by chance and have found a real gem . I will be booking to go back to a themed tea party and will definitely be recommending friends and family A MUST at any time of the year if you are in the area Jun 19th 2011 by P S in Monmouthshire Really lovely little cafe - we had our lunch in the beautiful gardens and it was delightful. It's not always easy to find somewhere for tea/cake or a light lunch in the Forest but this totally hit the spot - from cream stuffed cakes to finger sandwiches, excellent teas and lovely surroundings. And all done in character! Excellent! Jun 19th 2011 by J in Afternoon tea at Aunt Marthas is one of the most pleasant and relaxing way to spend an afternoon. The service is excellent and you are always given individual attention. The food is truely homemade and original. The tea rooms are perfect indoors and out. A hidden gem! Jun 13th 2011 by A H in Gloucestershire What an absolutely lovely afternoon we spent here! Charming rooms, fantastic service and food. The ambiance was perfect. We were served a charming tea and allowed to enjoy it at our leisure. The service could not have been better. It was an absolute delight and it is now on our list of places to go when we come over to visit. One of the nicest things we did on our holiday! B.A. from Maryland, USA. Jun 03rd 2011 by F in Gloucestershire Fantastic tearooms, in a beautiful setting. The gardens were fabulous, the Victorian touches are beautiful and the cream teas were perfect! The clotted cream was amazing!!! I would highly recommend these tea-rooms, and I have just received a hamper from Aunt Marthas as a gift, it is wonderful, a brilliant present! May 19th 2011 by V K in Worcestershire Many thanks for such an enjoyable meal; I was especially impressed by the 'Kitten cake'. After seeing the article in the Forrester about the cake you prepared for Graham the bucher I wanted to come and see the tearooms for myself. I will be back. May 15th 2011 by R K in Wakefield Saturday 23rd April ( Easter week-end): Once again our detour from the mad rush of the M4 was rewarded with an oasis of tranquility from a time gone by. The oldies relaxed over home made delicacies from an evermore increasing list of Victorian recipes, today being prepared by Aunt Martha's helpers Drew & Emma, whilst the youngsters found a new surprise behind every hedge - ponds, chickens and an Easter quiz that had us all scratching our heads. We were lucky enough to catch 'Capability' Ned between building extensions and landscaping gardens, and were educated with a talk about the history and mythology of Easter. Since our visit last year there appear to have been many alterations and additions, not least around the entrance area which now make it more user-friendly for wheel-chair access. Aunt Martha was her usual indomitable self and catered to our evey need and our great niece & nephew left with a handful of easter goodies! Well done the Carr family! Posted on behalf of KY from Surrey May 11th 2011 by J B in Gloucestershire I must write to say how much we enjoyed our visit to your tearooms last weekend. We had decided to get the family together and celebrate a couple of birthdays and Mothering Sunday as well. You did us proud with the Aristocratic High Tea and the Duchess Cake was just the perfect finish. Given the number of people there we were thankful that we had made the reservation well in advance. Thank you again for making the weekend special. Apr 13th 2011 by C in Wakefield The girls and I had an incredible time with you this weekend; it made our celebration perfect. We were so impressed with the food, it was beautiful and the service was great and the setting charming. We have decided to come to at least one of your themed weekends to meet up and enjoy your amazing tea-rooms Our thanks for everything Apr 06th 2011 by S in Herefordshire We have talked about visiting these tea rooms for a few weeks now, we have just been there today. What a pleasurably experience, Aunt Martha is very interesting, and excellent surroundings. Food and drinks lovely. All in all a brilliant couple of hrs. Will definately be going back soon, highly recomended. Sep 26th 2010 by A B in Gloucestershire High tea with Aunt Martha and the story of Alice in wonderland was wonderful! Her cakes and sandwiches representing things in the story made it so very different for anything else. -Loved the caterpillar! What a good way to spend an afternoon. Helen and residents of Hanover Court, Cinderford Aug 27th 2010 by H L in Gloucestershire We visit Aunt Martha almost every week for our fix of tea and cake and we love it! We have had almost everything on the menu, from dainty sandwhiches to authentic victorian recipe savouries. I am gluten sensitive and there is always a good selection to choose from and the gluten free pastry and bread and cakes are all extremely well made - you wouldnt know it was different. The gardens are beautiful and inside is very quaint too. Go there - its fab!! Jul 17th 2010 by J P in Gloucestershire We have passed the sign in Steam Mills several hundred times and each time said "we must go there sometime" well 2 weeks ago my husband and I did exactly that. We were welcomed by Aunt Martha herself dressed in Victorian clothing and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, it was a beautiful sunny day so we chose to sit outside in the wonderfully designed garden. We had some shade but were lovely and warm. The menu is not enormous but has a great range of options, ranging from sandwiches to cakes or quiche etc or even high tea! We chose an afternoon tea which came with a pot of tea for me a pot of coffee for my husband, clotted cream, home made scones (fruit or plain) and delicious home made jam. We sat enjoying the peace and quiet in the garden for over an hour and were made to feel extremely welcome. We enjoyed it so much we bought 3 pots of jam to take home and vowed to go back again very soon. Since then we have recommended the place to all of our friends (although we don't want it to get so busy we can't get in there hee hee). Today on Fathers Day I took my husband there and our 10 year old son came too, he spent nearly an hour (after his lunch) whilst we enjoyed our lunch chatting to Aunt Martha's lovely husband all about the chickens and the tadpoles and all the wildlife in their beautiful garden, I think he may have made a new friend there. All in all this is a wonderful lovely place to go, run with love and attention to detail, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be becoming regulars. TRY IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT TOO! Jun 20th 2010 by S C in Gloucestershire I recently visited Primrose Farm Tearooms with my family and had a great time. Aunt Martha holds themed weekends each month. The one we went to was for chocoholics & as my mum loves all things chocolate, we just had to go. We had light refreshments with the chocolate specials, it was brilliant. The atmosphere was great with friendly service and really tasty homemade food. Thanks for a lovely time. Mum took a catalogue and now orders lots of lovely cakes etc. Jun 09th 2010 by M A in Gloucestershire When I first came to Aunt Marthas I had a newborn baby and an 18 month old. Aunt Martha and her team were so accomodating and friendly I have been back time and time again. When I recently found out I have an allergy to wheat, dairy, eggs and soya I was upset as I love to indulge in a nice piece of cake with my tea and am always partial to puddings etc. So knowing that they catered for allergies I was interested to see what I would be able to have. As ever Martha was helpful and informative letting me know about local places to get my 'free from' produce from, while also providing me with a delicious sandwich and a pudding that meant I wasnt 'left out' from what everybody else was having. We have since swapped ideas and discoveries about alternatives for people with allergies. She even bought some of my favourite milk that I have in my tea!!! Now the boys are one and two and a half. The eldest loves to come and look in the little ponds, smell all the herbs in the herb garden, help Ned with the weeding and watch the chickens pecking about. Today he played skittles on the lawn and beat his dad! The youngest loves the food and exploring the nooks and niches of the garden. This little hidden gem is loved by all the family, highly recommended. Jun 06th 2010 by K F in Gloucestershire We recently had a delightful trip to Aunt Martha's Tea Rooms whilst on holiday in the Forest. from the moment we arrived we knew that this place was different. We were given a warm friendlywelcome by Aunt Martha and when we entered the tea-room it felt like taking a step back in time. My wife & I ordered the High Teas and when they arrived we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed every bite espcially knowing that everything was freshly baked. The gardens were a delight to walk and around, especially in the gorgeous sunshine. We will definately be back and would strongly recommend everyone to visit this wondrful slice of Victoriana in the Forest. Jun 06th 2010 by R K in Wakefield My husband & I visited Aunt Martha's Tea-Rooms for the first time last year and again this last week-end. The number of additions to the garden area and also the Tea-Room itself is impressive. This family, steeped in historical knowledge & the Victorians in particular, seems to have found their niche! With a flair for public speaking and a history of re-enactments under their belt, they are going to be entertaining us for years to come. I'm looking forward to visiting again to see what new ideas they will have come up with. And this all before mentioning the refreshment side of things! I think you'll need to come & sample for yourselves. But I can say the food & personal service could not be better. As yet we do not have grand-children but I could well imagine spending a relaxing afternoon, if we did, watching the children being entertained by the various activities on offer. Also these themed week-ends sound very promising indeed! Well done to the Carr family. Wanda & Keith Young Jun 05th 2010 by W Y in Surrey We have visited Aunt Marthas a number of times and have always found that we are greeted with outstanding service and friendly and attentive people. Aunt Martha and her team make every effort to make each visit unique (we particularly enjoyed our visit today, as Aunt Martha was holding one of her many themed weekends)! We will continue to visit Aunt Marthas on a regular basis, as we never fail to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and beautiful location. May 31st 2010 by A in Gloucestershire Visted Aunt Martha with a ladies group some months ago, and enjoyed my time there. The food was lovely and even bought a pot of her home made jam.
