The Angel Hotel - Welsh Hotel of the Year
The Angel Hotel in Abergavenny has been awarded the Good Hotel Guide’s Cesar Award for Welsh Hotel of the Year 2020.
Named after Cesar Ritz - founder of the famous Ritz hotels in London and Paris - these awards are dubbed 'the Oscars of the hotel industry' by the Good Hotel Guide.
Formerly a coaching inn on the route between London and Fishguard, The Angel was taken on by William and Charlotte Griffiths after they returned to the UK from Texas in 2002.
It is now considered one of Wales’ finest accommodations, with 34 guest rooms, Oak Room restaurant, Foxhunter bar and numerous private event/wedding spaces. The hotel has been a member of the prestigious Tea Guild since 2011, and are considered to offer one of the best afternoon teas outside London.
The Angel opened its own bakery in December 2016, which now supplies the hotel and its sister properties (including the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree Inn and Abergavenny's Art Shop & Gallery) with breads and pastries daily.
The Angel was previously named Hotel of the Year for Wales 2016-17 by the AA, and also received Four Silver Stars for outstanding service.
‘Winning this Cesar award is fantastic recognition for the whole of the team, who work tirelessly each day to provide exceptional hospitality to all our guests’; Sales & Marketing manager Jo Nugent.
