2018 Visitor Guide Published
Bike it, Boat it, or Walk it but make sure you grab the new Visitor Guide showcasing the stunning Wye Valley and Forest of Dean
A new guide for visitors to the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean has been launched by Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism (WVFDT) with a distinctly maritime theme, as the region celebrates in 2018 the links between the River Wye and the surrounding ancient Forest of Dean. The Visitor Guide is now available both as a brochure from Tourist Information Centres in the area or as a download from the website.
The Visitor Guide is Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism’s main annual printed guide which gives the reader ideas for short breaks or longer visits, award winning places to eat and stay, and tips on where to go for the best views and to see the amazing wildlife - both in the river and the forest!
Maureen McAllister, from Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism said:
"We expect 2018 to be another great year of increasing visitors from the UK and overseas, and our Visitor Guide is another way for us to spread the word about all the fantastic things to see and do that the Dean Wye provides. You really can dive into an ancient forest this year!”
The Wye Valley has been at the centre of tourism for well over two hundred years, with the modern tourist visiting the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean today following in the footsteps of many an eighteenth-century traveller, sketchbook in hand, eagerly pursuing the British equivalent of the European Grand Tour. The Wye River once so essential for industry and travel has today become a focus of beauty, tranquillity, discovery and adventure. Running through the ancient Forest of Dean, once a royal hunting forest and itself a seat of industry, this surviving historic woodland now houses award-winning accommodation, food and drink providers, creative industries, unique attractions and activities. The Dean Wye region sits on the English/Welsh border encompassing parts of Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire
The 2018 visitor guide will be promoted via WVFDT social media channels and can be downloaded from the website.
