Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans

Stay in beautifully restored vintage caravans with spectacular sunset views. Eco-friendly glamping set in wild flower meadow with open fire cooking. Intimate, magical, perfect for special occasions.

Glamping in or near Ross-on-Wye - 4 vintage caravans: Monty, Gertie & Sybil are family sized and Elsie is a spacious double.

Fall in love with Monty and 'the girls', 4 beautifully restored vintage caravans nestled in a wildflower meadow in the spacious grounds of a Grade II listed Old Rectory.

With original fittings, period details and pretty crockery, each van is packed full of character and retro charm. Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best - cooking over an open fire, dinning by candlelight under the stars, hearing birdsong and owls calling at dusk.

A stay here is a chance to fully reconnect with nature. Our location is genuinely magical with spectacular sunset views out west to the Black Mountains. A delicious cream tea and freshly picked flowers await each glamper on arrival. It really is the rural idyll.

The copse next to the meadow is home to the log circle fire - the beating heart of the glampsite - where guests come to cook and share stories. If the weather closes in glampers can run for cover to the mess tent and should guests want a night off campfire duties, Jo and Sacha can provide home cooked meals using seasonal produce from The Old Rectory veg garden on request.

The tennis court is free for glampers to use too. The vans are located far enough from each another to ensure privacy but close enough to make the site ideal for group bookings too.

Perfect for romantic weekends, girly get-togethers, birthday celebrations and family adventures.

Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans has featured in Country Living, Red magazine, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Times and Channel 4’s Weekend Kitchen with Waitrose. It is an enviromentally friendly glampsite using an eco composting system and organic products which are provided to guests free of charge.

“Every now and then you come across something quite special..... The children have loved rattling round the woods, helping cook tea on the fire and us grown-ups have loved the peace at the end of the day, watching the sunset with a couple of kids, tucked up cozy and warm in Gertie. We’re leaving with heavy hearts but many fabulous memories to share.”

Other facilities on site: Family vans have woodburners and firebowls. Gas stove for cooking in mess tent plus woodburner for keeping warm. Campfire. Hot water and beautiful upcycled showershack. Communal Fridge/freezer.  Small deli stocking delicious local produce. On site holistic treatments and home cooking available on request.  Tennis court for guests to use.
