Hot Pot Pottery - pottery activity centre & gallery

Cosy, country pottery & gallery offering pottery activities and classes, a warm welcome and add on food options.

Attraction in or near Symonds Yat

HOT POT POTTERY - we are a cosy, country pottery offering bookable pottery painting sessions, pottery trial classes, special events & party bookings.

POTTERY PAINTING SESSIONS: These are in our cosy gallery space and are bookable 10-12 or 2-4 Thurs - Sun (less availability some weeks depending on our schedule). To run a session we need at least 4 people but if you are a smaller group/on your own it is always worth contacting us to see if others have already booked in. Pottery painting is a perfect way to spend creative time with friends and is great for larger groups and parties and we can seat up to 20 or so people in total. A basic briefing is given and creative help and encouragement is always on hand. Pottery painting costs just £6.00 per person and the cost of what you choose to paint from our range (£4.75-£10.00). Once you have finished painting your pottery needs to be glazed and fired before it is finished. Pottery pick up is possible if you live locally or a firing is due while you are here. If not then delivery is £16.50 for a box to one UK address. We try to fire as regularly as we can.

Our gallery also has a wood burner and sofas for getting cosy in colder months and courtyard seating in the summer with free WIFI and children and dogs are very welcome.

POTTERY TRIAL CLASSES: Our 2 Hour Pottery Trial Classes are held in our pottery studio and are bookable Thurs-Sun year round (less availability some weeks depending on our schedule) and are usually bookable 10-12 or 2-4. They are perfect for families, groups or parties and are a great way to celebrate a birthday or hen do. We take 2-8 people in our studio and the classes allow a chance to try a range of 3 pottery techniques including wheel throwing with a lot of help and encouragement. At the end you can leave your favourite pieces for firing and glazing with our house glazes. Pottery trial classes are £30.00 per head including materials, glazing and firing. The price includes leaving up to 4 pieces each for glazing & firing, extra pieces will be charged at £3 per piece. Collection is possible if you live locally or if a firing is due while you are here. Firing is usually every 5/6 weeks. If delivery is required it is a one off cost of £16.50 to one UK address. As far as we are concerned, well-behaved dogs are welcome in our studio but as the studio is not huge we would need to double check with others in the class first.

FOOD OPTIONS: If you are a group of 4 or more you can enhance your pottery experience by asking us to provide lunch/afternoon tea for your group which we will serve before/after your pottery activity in our cosy gallery.  Food orders need to be placed at least 4 days before your booking. Contact us or visit our Food & Drink page to find out what we could offer you. Or you could consider Pizza & Pots.

PURCHASING OUR POTTERY: While you are with us you may want to purchase some of our pottery displayed in our gallery. Our pottery is all made on -site and is displayed on furniture rather than plinths, allowing you to handle and choose the pieces you want. There is a wide range of pottery to suit all budgets, all handmade on-site and inspired by the natural woodland surroundings. You can spend time browsing and aksing all sorts of questions. We love to talk about pottery!

SPECIAL EVENTS DAYS/WEEKENDS: We also run special even days or weekends during the year such as Valentine's Day, Easter, Hallowe'en so check out our Special Events page on our website to see what have coming up (please note that normal Pottery Trial Classes & Pottery Painting Sessions may vary while Special Events are on).

PARKING: We have free, off-road, courtyard parking for up to 8 cars and there is additional parking up on the village green near the church in Christchurch.

VOUCHERS: Vouchers for pottery activities or pottery purchases make a perfect Christmas or Birthday present and can be paid for in person at the gallery or we can take payment on-line and post them out to you.

PAYMENT: We prefer CASH if possible as we are no longer allowed to share the cost of providing card payment facilities with customers. We hope you understand.
