Go Ape

If you want to get your blood pumping a little more, then you’re in luck… Nestled deep within the Forest are some of the best high outdoor activities.

Attraction in or near Parkend

The Ultimate Forest Adventure Trinity

If you're looking to couple the charming sites of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean with something that gets your blood pumping a little more, then you’re in luck… Nestled deep within England’s largest oak woodland, awaits hours of high-octane monkey business making for some of the best outdoor activities in Gloucestershire.

You'll find three of our adventures across two sites at the Forest of Dean, and depending on which one you're after, you'll be heading to either Mallards Pike or Beechenhurst Lodge.

Mallards Pike

Our Tree Top Adventure at Mallards Pike Lake offers 2-3 hours of forest thrills as you zip, swing and clamber your way to the status of Chief Gorilla amongst your squad. Running for over a decade, our Forest of Dean high ropes site has witnessed a transformation of crossings and obstacles, sure to push you outside the realms of your comfort zone! If you’re looking for Segways in the Forest of Dean we haven’t left you out either. Grab life by the handlebars and prepare to be immersed in the dense wildlife as you whizz through the wood on two heavy duty all terrain wheels.

Tree Top Adventure
Did you know that an Olympic diving platform stands at 10 metres high? Stick another 5m on top of that and you have our highest platform at Tree Top Adventure Forest of Dean! Needless to say there’s plenty of exhilaration to be had as you find your inner Tarzan or Jane and embark on your high-rise woodland adventure with your friends and family. This Gloucestershire Tree Top Adventure certainly is one for the intrepid as you stand toe-to-toe with some all new encounters like the Tank Trap, The Shuffle and Itchen Crossing plus many more.

Forest Segway
Jump on board our Segway experience in the Forest of Dean and become one with the surrounding nature. That’s right, you may encounter wild boar and deer as our stealthy electric powered Segways enable you to get up close and personal with the wonders of the local nature. We can’t promise you’ll see any apes, but you may catch a glimpse of the Tree Top Adventurers swinging above you if you look closely enough. Don't let your eyes wander for too long though, as the windy trails will certainly need your concentration - watch out for the bumps!

Beechenhurst Lodge

In the heart of the Forest of Dean, Beechenhurst Lodge plays host to our Tree Top Junior. You'll find our adventure for Mini Tarzans located on the edge of the main car park at Beechenhurst Lodge.

A fun filled hour of canopy exploring, trail blazing and obstacles for all to enjoy at Beechenhurst Lodge. You’ll negotiate three loops of crossings and finish on a high with two awesome Zip Wires.

Opening Times

Our forest doors at Forest of Dean are open nearly all year around so there's plenty of time to live life adventurously.

However, we usually close after early December as not only does it get a little chilly we like to give our adventures a little TLC during this time. To see when you can unleash your inner ape at your preferred Go Ape location please use the booking bar on our website to view available booking dates.

We highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Note that we have two locations in the Forest of Dean. Please note that the following parking charges apply.

Mallards Pike

Take the A48 to Blakeney and then follow the brown signs to Go Ape! Our postcode (GL15 4HD) won't always take you to the exact location so it's best to ignore it and head to Blakeney then follow the (small) Go Ape signs to head up to the cabin. You'll need to keep your eyes peeled but this is the best way of getting to Go Ape.

Beechenhust Lodge

Do not follow the brown Go Ape signs. Beechenhurst Lodge is in Forest Of Dean. Travelling from Coleford to Cinderford on the B4226, continue by the junction with the B4234 (Parkend to Lydbrook road) driving up the Speech House Road for 500m before turning left into Beechenhurst.

Please don’t use our postcode in your Sat Nav! Due to the rural nature of our locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using sat-nav directions. It will take you to Broadwell near Coleford, this is on the B4226 but a few minutes drive away from Beechenhurst. Please always cross reference with a map.

The nearest railway station is at Lydney Station which is approximately 8½ miles from Beechenhurst Lodge. There are intermittent buses - please consult the Traveline South West website
