Attraction in or near Monmouth

Description

The Savoy Theatre is one of Monmouth's hidden gems. It stands on the oldest theatre site in Wales and is, in itself, one of the oldest working theatres in Wales. Films were first shown here in 1910. Exactly a hundred years later the theatre was taken over by the Monmouth Savoy Trust, a group of local volunteers who were determined to prevent its closure.

The Trust has re-invigorated the building and it is now a fully functioning cinema showing the latest films and a successful theatre space which presents live shows by some of the UK's leading comedy and music acts.

When not in use visitors are welcome to look round the beautiful Grade 2* listed building.
