Attraction in or near Coleford

Forest Hills a par 72 championship length golf course is one of the finest in the area and is a naturally undulating parkland course with panoramic views over the old market town of Coleford to the Welsh hills beyond. Visitors are welcome, no handicap card is needed. There is the standard golfer’s dress code on the course, no T-shirts or trainers please, or golf shoes in the public clubhouse areas.

Open all year due to the excellent drainage, you won’t get soggy feet even after a day of heavy rain. Most of the year is spent on main greens and tees, the exception being the par 3 holes which have temporary tee mats during the depths of winter.

The EGU and PGA run regional and national competitions at Forest Hills, citing the challenging nature of the well kept course and superb organisation in the clubhouse as the reason they return.

Visitors and Societies are welcome. There is a Driving Range and equipment can be hired.

Trolleys are allowed out all year round, although they may need winter wheels if the weather is very wet. All our hire trolleys have these wheels. Buggies can also be hired and we have loan clubs available.

Prices for tee times vary with season and time of day. A price list is available via our website and you can check availability of tee times and book in.

Forest Driving Range is directly across the road from the golf Club entrance and is open from 8am-8pm daily. The machine takes £1 coins and take-away coffee plus change for the machine is available from our upstairs coffee lounge or the pro shop.

Footgolf: a fun, family friendly activity also takes place here. A round takes about an hour, no booking is necessary for smaller groups and equipment is provided. Footgolf parties can be organised if booked in advance.  Further details.

The warm welcoming clubhouse, with the Coffee Republic lounge is open to everyone. A delicious range of artisan coffees, home-made cakes, plus light lunches and snacks are served. Free WiFi is also available in the clubhouse.

On Tuesdays and Sundays the downstairs restaurant is open. On Tuesdays we serve lunches for Senior Citizens and on Sunday we have our locally renowned Carvery serving locally sourced meat and vegetables plus a delicious range of desserts.

Groups can also enjoy the restaurant, with a special group lunch menu which can be booked on any day and is popular with lunch clubs. With level, ground floor access and facilities, including access ramp if necessary plus plenty of free parking onsite, the restaurant is popular with a range of ages, including those with mobility issues. Chef can also adjust the menu to accommodate special dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegan and all kinds of allergies. We do ask that groups book and choose their menu in advance.
