Mill End Mitcheldean is a historic Grade II listed building offering spa & leisure facilities, sleeping and seating up to 40.

Description

Mill End Mitcheldean is a historic Grade II listed building dating back to the 1400s. Combining many original features with modern day comforts it is situated in the enchanting Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire adjacent to the Cotswolds and, in the not too far distance, Cheltenham beckons.

We pride ourselves in pre-empting all your weekend away requirements - in terms of both in house facilities and entertainment possibilities.

The house boasts a dining area for 40, very well equipped kitchens, hot tubs, outdoor woodfired sauna cabin (if the whole complex is booked), steam sauna, infra-red sauna, cocktail bar and pool table.

Mill End is located on the edge of a village, which has all the amenities one might need for a weekend away for forest style out door active holidays or a self-catering weekend ‘at home’ in a big country house.

The courtyard garden is completely private and not overlooked, other than by George Cottage, affording great views up the hills behind and immediate access to late shop, off-licence and take-aways. However, as it is in a village location we are not suitable for those wanting all night parties with sound systems and DJs.

The majority of Mill End bookings are two night weekend breaks to celebrate big occasions, with arrival after 5.00pm on Friday and departure by 12.00 noon on Sunday. Mill End specialises in hen parties, and offers entire weekend catering, hospitality and entertainment via sister company Bordello Banquets.

Mill End also offers mid-week corporate team-building & development days, team learning, cooking and reading retreats and delegate meeting space at a much lower rate than weekends hire. Local delegate rate for meetings is based on lunch and refreshments and there is no room hire fee payable.

If you are sat nav-ing, you will probably find The Stenders, which Mill End becomes when it starts to climb the hill out of Mitcheldean, so follow directions for The Stenders – Mill End is a very short stretch of road as the historical name suggests!

If travelling from Bristol by car –

By far the quickest route is via Chepstow and along the A48 towards Gloucester on the Welsh side of the river. This avoids all the small villages in The Forest itself, and any potential rush hour traffic or road works in Gloucester. Remember to take the left hand slip road signed Forest of Dean and Chepstow, after the brow of the hill, and go over the OLD BRIDGE – if you go over the new bridge by mistake, take the M48 back to Chepstow on the Welsh side of the river!

Proceed along the A48, and through Newnham on Severn – about 30 minutes. Out the other side of Newnham, and through Broadoak, and under a railway bridge – you will pass Glevum Conservatories on your right, and a Texaco Garage on your left. Continue up the hill after the Texaco Garage. You will see signs, on the right hand side of the road, to Flaxley and Mitcheldean. The turning itself is on the left and fairly concealed, on the brow of the hill, before a cottage.

Mitcheldean is 4 miles from this point, along beautiful country lanes. Follow signs for Flaxley, past the abbey and chapel, and then proceed right to Mitcheldean. Once you enter Mitcheldean, at The Lamb pub, turn left onto the mini roundabout, and then immediately right. When you see the church in front of you and the now closed George pub on your right hand side, turn left into Mill End St.

If travelling from London or the North –
Come off the motorway at Gloucester, and leave it on the A40 – the Ross and Monmouth Road. Continue on the A40 and follow signs for Ross-on-Wye, until you reach the village of Huntley. Then turn left at the lights, taking the A4136 for Monmouth. On arrival into Mitcheldean, The Lamb Pub will be on your left. Turn right at the mini roundabout and proceed over the brow of the hill. When you see the church infront of you and The George pub on your right hand side, turn left into Mill End St.
