The Oakraven Field Centre provides warm and relaxing accommodation in a specially converted Victorian school. Indoor comfort is provided by a large communal hall heated by an open fire, a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, 4 bunk rooms sleeping 18, 12, 3 and 3, as well as separate male/female toilets and showers.
We are wheelchair friendly, with suitable lift and shower facilities.
Children and dogs are welcome.
Wi-Fi, large-screen TV, and darts are provided free.
We can provide rooms for classes & training.
We operate eco-friendly solar-heated water and solar panel electricity systems.
While the accommodation is primarily self-catering, breakfasts, lunches, evening meals and even banquets can be provided by prior arrangement. Our bunks beds are supplied with fitted sheets and pillows, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag or duvet and a towel.
Outside, a large walled forecourt and rear garden provide ideal areas for BBQs, safe children’s play, and secure storage for mountain bikes, canoes, and other outdoor-pursuit equipment. 1½ acres of grounds and meadow provides camping and outdoor fire-pit areas. A neighbouring 3-acre nature reserve is managed by us to provide a wide range of habitats to observe wildlife. This reserve is also available for education and training purposes.
Oakraven is located in a quiet lane, bordering the picturesque western edge of the Forest of Dean. It is ideally situated for most outdoor activities, and there are pubs and other facilities just a mile away in the village of Mitcheldean.
