Situated in beautiful Monmouthshire, The Bell at Skenfrith, a former 17th century Welsh coaching inn, is one of Wales's renowned boutique hotels. Carefully and thoughtfully decorated, the polished flagstone floors, oak beams and antique furniture, coupled with contemporary comfy sofas and chairs, give The Bell a relaxing and easy atmosphere. Overlooking the River Monnow, The Bell is on the outskirts of the tiny Welsh village of Skenfrith which has its own Norman castle. With an award-winning restaurant and wine list, it is the ideal place for quiet and romantic breaks, weddings or special celebrations,country pursuits and wonderful long walks. The Bell's Dog and Boot Bar welcomes walkers and their dogs and even has a Pooch Parlour where you can shower them down and dry them off.
The has created 6 of its own circular walks in and around the area which are extremely popular with walkers and dogs alike. The routes are all on public footpaths.
The Bell has free wi-fi but don't expect your mobile to always work. The kitchen garden, located behind The Bell, is popular with guests and the restaurant's seasonal menus reflect the diverse selection of vegetables, fruit and herbs grown there.
Award-winning Restaurant and Bar
The Bell at Skenfrith has won many awards for its food, including The Best Place To Eat - Pub, as voted by the public, in the Wales National Tourism Awards. In 2017, it was the Regional winner in The Food Awards Wales and Wales' winner in the National Pub and Bar Awards.
The Bell's menus change regularly and offer locally-sourced seasonal food, some from the kitchen garden. On Sundays, the set lunch menu is available from 12pm until 5pm! Welsh Afternoon Tea,with all the works, can be booked by contacting reception or email.
In good weather, guests may eat al fresco on the garden terrace, have a drink by the river or order a Bell Picnic to eat in the Orchard Garden. Private parties and small conferences are most welcome, by prior arrangement, and there is a lovely private room which can be reserved.
Weddings, Celebrations and Small Conferences
The Bell is renowned for its intimate and individually stylish weddings. There is an extensive pretty garden and terrace, an elegant marquee which can seat up to 200 people, with space for a dance floor and bar. The Bell's silver Bentley may be also be hired. Alternatively, there is a private room for small celebrations or private dining. It can seat from 12 to 46 people and you will have your own personal staff to look after you and your guests. With eleven beautiful bedrooms, some with four poster beds and all with ensuite bathrooms, The Bell can accommodate at least 22 people for an exclusive use package.
