Usk’s charm lies in its historic buildings, small independent shops, tearooms, pubs, riverside walks and bulging hanging baskets.

Towns and Villages in or near Usk

Usk has many strings to its bow. It sits on one of the finest salmon fishing rivers in the country, the River Usk. It’s 11th century castle is the backdrop for an enchanting, romantic garden. And the town is a regular winner of ‘Wales in Bloom’.

The people of Usk are green-fingered in the extreme. And every June, they throw open their gardens to the general public. It’s a celebration of horticulture, of neighbourliness and friendliness. It’s also a great welcome for visitors to the town. And it’s all for charity.

But it’s not just in spring and summer that the town shines. Every Winter the town hosts a fantastic winter Festival, with music, markets, reindeer and, of course, Father Christmas!

Usk’s charm also lies in the range of its small independent shops, its tearooms and pubs. Its riverside walks and bulging hanging baskets. Its well stocked Rural Life Museum and annual agricultural show. And its convenient location, less than 10 miles from the M4 yet feeling a whole world away.
