Feast on the Forest Feast on the Forest

The harvest is in full swing throughout autumn, with the bushes laden with berries and fungi carpeting the forest floor and meadows. Get involved in one of the foodie experiences to feast on the autumn bounty.

Forage and Feast - Harts Barn Cookery School

Harts Barn Cookery School will be hosting three Forage and Feast workshops, with participants taken out into the surrounding hedgerows, woods and fields to fill a basket with a bounty of nuts, berries and mushrooms before returning to the school to create a feast of infused tea, bread, savoury dishes and something sweet to finish off with.

Autumnal Foodie Festival - Forest Showcase

The grounds of the Speech House Hotel will be overrun with the best local and seasonal produce on 6 October with the Forest Showcase Food Festival. Visitors can try out a whole host of harvested goods, watch local chefs cook up a feast of autumnal dishes and kids can get creative by recycling leaves and twigs into forest mobiles. The ReWild Project will also be running foraging sessions throughout the day, exploring the surrounding woodland on the hunt for edible plants and berries.

Autumnal Foraging Breaks and Leaf Peepers Fizz Cocktail - Tudor Farmhouse

During September, October and November, boutique hotel Tudor Farmhouse is offering guided group foraging courses with its expert forager Raoul van Den Broucke, heading off the beaten track to search for wild ingredients before foodie finds are handed over to the hotel’s head chef, who will use them to create a gourmet lunch.

The hotel will be serving a special Leaf Peepers Fizz cocktail throughout autumn to revive all those thirsty peepers after their foliage frenzy, made with local sloe gin, prosecco and rosemary picked from their own garden.

Leaf Peeping amongst the Vines - Parva Farm Vineyard

Parva Farm Vineyard in Tintern is perfectly located for views over the Wye Valley. Throughout the first week in November the vineyard will be hosting a self-guided walk around the vines when they are at their most vibrant, with signs indicating the best leaf peeping viewpoints over the valley. Once the walk is over, enjoy a wine tasting session sampling Parva’s whites, reds and rosés.
